    Programme Manager & Facilitator

    About the Position

    The ĀKAU Foundation strives to empower taitamariki around Aotearoa to become connected, creative learners. We help taitamariki recognize and harness the creativity of their tupuna by involving them in tangible projects that have real impact for taitamariki, their whānau and their community.


    This role will require flexibility and adaptability and will largely include managing some of our existing taitamariki programmes (Details here: https://akau.co.nz/foundation). Part of the role will also include working with other staff members to facilitate creative youth workshops around Te Taitokerau.

    This role requires strong management and organizational skills. Previous experience managing people, education programmes and writing reports would be an advantage as would experience working in youth, Māori or community development. Facilitation experience, as well as knowledge of Kaupapa Māori, tikanga and Te Reo would be awesome however training will be provided. Skills in creativity & design is an advantage but not essential.


    1. Programme Management to include:
      • Overseeing

    • Experience in management.
    • Experience and passion for youth and Māori development
    • Able to work independently and as part of a team
    • Strong communication skills
    • Full Clean NZ License. At times you will be responsible for driving taitamariki.
    • Applicants will be subject to NZ Police Vetting in line with ‘Vulnerable Children’s legislation’
    • NZ Resident or valid work visa
    • Technology literacy!


    The position is anticipated to commence in January 2019. It is potentially a full time role (37.5 hrs per week) but this could be negotiated and is subject to a three month trial period. Remuneration will be determined based on level of experience.
